The B-29 first flew in 1942. The B-47 first flew in 1947. What a leap in aeronautics we made in those 5 years!
It’s also a reminder that as futuristic as the B-47 was, it was manufactured with WWII technology.
(That’s B-50 at top, a B-29 on the bottom.)

Boeing B-52G-75-BW Stratofortress. The “3” on the fin and the white cross square identify this aircraft as a Boeing flight test aircraft circa 1959.

B-29s Doc and FIFI to Reunite at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025
Tumblr media
Oh I’m so excited. It’s such an emotional experience watching the last two flightworthy B-29 Superfortresses flying together. Definitely a bucket list thing for me to check off last year but I will definitely be there again to see it this year too.
A word of advice to those who would like to see them at EAA this year, they will likely only be flying together on Wednesday. This is because FiFi stays in Oshkosh for the first few days of the airshow and Doc will be there for the second half. This is how it worked last year.
